Pep Guardiola is facing one of the most challenging periods of his managerial career as Manchester City struggles to find their rhythm. After a disappointing draw against Feyenoord, where they squandered a 3-0 lead in the final minutes, the issues within the team are becoming increasingly apparent. With their upcoming Premier League match against Liverpool at Anfield, City are in dire need of a strong performance. Liverpool, their arch-rivals, currently lead the Premier League table with an eight-point advantage, putting even more pressure on the defending champions to avoid further slip-ups.

In terms of team selection, Guardiola is expected to make several changes to address recent struggles. In goal, Ederson remains a key figure, despite making a few mistakes in the previous match, and will be eager to regain his form. In defense, Kyle Walker could be reintroduced to handle Liverpool’s pace, likely replacing Rico Lewis. Ruben Dias, who was benched against Feyenoord, is expected to start alongside Manuel Akanji in central defense, with Josko Gvardiol continuing at left-back, despite a poor performance in the last match.

In midfield, Ilkay Gundogan is crucial due to injuries to other key players, while Bernardo Silva’s inclusion is also likely. Kevin De Bruyne, who has been sidelined for several weeks, is set to make his return to the starting lineup, which could provide a much-needed boost for City’s attack.

Upfront, Jack Grealish will likely feature on the left wing, with Phil Foden playing a more central role. Erling Haaland remains the focal point of the attack and will need to lead by example to help City secure the three points. Meanwhile, Mateo Kovacic, Oscar Bobb, and Rodri are confirmed absentees, and John Stones and Jeremy Doku are doubtful for the fixture.

This match could prove pivotal for Manchester City’s season as they look to stay in touch with Liverpool at the top of the Premier League.
