Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has made it clear that he does not intend to manage another club after his time with the Premier League champions. Guardiola, who signed a new contract in November that will keep him at City until the summer of 2026, explained that his decision was influenced by a decline in his energy levels. Although he is currently committed to City, he stated that he will retire from club management once his contract ends.

In an interview with the Desmontadito YouTube channel, Guardiola shared his thoughts on the future, emphasizing that he no longer has the energy required to take on a new club role. “At some point, I will feel like it’s enough and at that moment I will stop for sure,” he said. “I’m going to stop. I am not going to join another team, I’m not going to leave to go to another country [for a club]. I won’t have the energy.” Guardiola further explained that while he will leave club football, an international coaching role could be of interest to him. He noted that coaching a national team differs from managing a club because it doesn’t involve the same daily grind of training and playing matches every few days.

While Guardiola expressed that he is content with his current role, he acknowledged the toll that the daily demands of club management take on him. “To rest, I think would be good for me,” he added, highlighting the need for a break to evaluate progress and improvements.

Guardiola’s remarks came as Manchester City faced a difficult period in their season, with only one win in their last nine games across all competitions. With several key players injured, particularly in central defense, Guardiola emphasized the importance of focusing on the basics to regain confidence. Despite the challenges, he remains optimistic about his team’s potential.

City’s upcoming match against Juventus in the Champions League is a key fixture, as they continue to battle through an injury-riddled season.
