Newcastle United midfielder Lewis Miley was declared fit and healthy ahead of their Premier League match against West Ham United on Monday, dispelling earlier concerns over a potential injury. According to Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope, Miley had not picked up any new injury despite some speculation. Manager Eddie Howe opted to select an extra forward, choosing to include Callum Wilson in the matchday squad, who was returning after a long-term injury. This decision led to Miley being left out of the matchday 18, but the 18-year-old midfielder is in contention to make his return to the squad for the upcoming fixture against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Miley, who had been sidelined for seven months due to back and foot injuries, made his return to full fitness last month. His absence had raised doubts about his immediate availability, but Howe clarified that he was fully fit. However, there is a potential concern for Brazil international Bruno Guimaraes, who is dealing with a glute issue and may miss the trip to Selhurst Park. In Guimaraes’ potential absence, Miley is likely to take his place in the starting lineup.

In other injury news, Newcastle were given a boost with Joe Willock being fit for the upcoming match after avoiding injury during the West Ham game. Willock had been substituted at halftime due to a leg knock, but Howe confirmed that Willock had trained this week and would be available for selection against Crystal Palace.

Following a disappointing 3-0 loss to West Ham, Newcastle currently sit 10th in the Premier League table with four defeats, three draws, and five victories from 12 games. They have struggled to secure consistent wins this season, failing to string together more than two consecutive victories. With the upcoming match against Crystal Palace, they will be aiming to secure all three points and improve their form.
